I would like to share an incident that happened to me recently, as an illustration of how important it is to pay attention words of instruction. One day, I got into my car and a warning light came on saying that my coolant level was low. I ignored the warning and thought to myself, I would take care of it later. It was winter time and I felt that my car didn’t need coolant. For a couple of weeks that warning light would come on, and I would ignore it. Well, something inside me said, “you better get some coolant for the car.” So, I finally went and bought some coolant. But, when I turned my car off the engine fan keep running. I knew something was wrong, so I put the coolant in the engine immediately. I thought once the coolant got circulated in the engine it would turn the engine fan off.
Well, it didn’t work. The engine fan kept running. I thought the engine fan would eventually cut off, so I left the car parked in the garage. The next day, I got into my car and it wouldn’t start. The engine fan drained my battery. Now I have a dead battery. So I had to buy a new battery. It took me a day to get the battery installed in my car. While I sat down and thought about this incident, I said to myself, ” Had I paid attention to that warning about the coolant this would not have happened. Had I went and bought some coolant after the first warning, I could have avoided wasting an entire day and spending $200.00 on a new battery.”
Many of us make the same mistake in our lives. We don’t pay attention to the warning signs which instruction gives us. As a result, we find ourselves in situations that could have been avoided. If we had listen to the wisdom of instruction, we wouldn’t have to pay the price of distress and hardship in our lives. Let’s make the quality decision to listen to the wisdom of instruction this year. If we do we will be blessed.
